Bowel surgery
Find the right treatment for you
A functioning gut is the foundation of a healthy body. Surgical repair of the gut is a fantastic solution to many bowel disorders.
Bowel resection
A bowel resection is a surgery to remove a part of the intestine (either the small or large intestine). This may be done if a section of the bowel is damaged, blocked, or affected by disease, such as cancer, Crohn’s disease, or diverticulitis.
During the surgery, the unhealthy part of the bowel is taken out, and the two healthy ends are sewn or stapled back together.
The goal of the surgery is to help relieve symptoms, prevent complications, or treat serious conditions affecting the bowel. Recovery usually involves some time in the hospital, and normal bowel function gradually returns over time.
