MD PhD Albertas Dauksa

Dr Albertas Daukša is a senior general and transplant surgeon with over 20 years of clinical experience, combining high surgical volume with a substantial academic and research career. His practice focuses on endocrine surgery, complex abdominal procedures and transplantation, positioning him as a leading specialist in technically demanding surgical fields. He obtained his medical degree from Kaunas University of Medicine in 2002 and completed his surgical residency between 2003 and 2008. He went on to earn a PhD in Medicine in 2013, with research focused on molecular and oncological aspects of pancreatic, gastric and related cancers, underpinning his expertise in surgical oncology. Dr Daukša performs approximately 350 abdominal surgeries per year and has carried out more than 2,000 thyroid operations, reflecting a high level of operative experience across both endocrine and complex abdominal surgery. His clinical work also includes transplant and multi-organ procedures, involving the liver, pancreas and stomach, requiring advanced surgical coordination and multidisciplinary care. Alongside his clinical practice, he has built a significant academic career at the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences, progressing from assistant and lecturer roles to Associate Professor. He is actively involved in teaching medical students and surgical residents, contributing to the training of future surgeons. He has authored or co-authored approximately 70 scientific publications, including more than 20 indexed in major international databases, and is engaged in ongoing research within surgical gastroenterology and oncology. His international training includes advanced programmes in Germany, the Netherlands, Italy and South Korea, providing exposure to leading surgical techniques and practices.
