My Medical Gateway hospital standards
At My Medical Gateway, we understand that trust is everything when it comes to seeking medical treatment abroad. That’s why we apply strict and professional standards when accrediting hospitals to our platform. For the UK marketplace we work exclusively with hospital groups located in the European Union and undertake a thorough onboarding process before any provider is approved.
Every prospective healthcare provider must meet a comprehensive set of legal, clinical and ethical criteria. These include full national licensing, EU compliance, accreditation by at least one recognised insurer and evidence of consistently high clinical performance. MMG does not accept facilities with unresolved sanctions, regulatory issues or insurance gaps.
Accreditation is free of charge, but it is never automatic. As part of our evaluation, MMG senior management conducts a site visit to inspect the hospital’s infrastructure, meet its management and medical teams, and verify that it can fully deliver our Treatment Package for international patients.
Only when a provider satisfies all conditions and accepts MMG’s non-negotiable Terms & Conditions are they approved to join the platform. This ensures every hospital on MMG’s platform operates to the same high standards—giving you, the Platform User, full confidence in selecting the care you receive.
Among MMG’s criteria, we require the assurance of healthcare providers that they:
-
Are legally incorporated, certified and regulated in accordance with the laws of the EU Member State in which they are located, and in conformity with relevant EU Regulations and Directives.
-
Have standards of performance and treatment metrics that a qualified medical health professional would reasonably claim is “good” or better (please see the General Medical Council’s guidance of what is considered “good” medical practice here).
-
Are in “good standing” and not subject to any sanctions or fines by public, regulatory, private or insurance institutions for non-performance or non-compliance with relevant law at the time of being accredited by MMG.
-
Are accredited to at least one national or international healthcare insurance provider.
-
Have insurance cover for the specific treatments advertised on MMG’s platform.
-
Fully accept and endorse MMG’s concept of the "Treatment Package” for medical travellers and incorporate all of its components into their Healthcare Contract for patients sourced by MMG’s platform.
-
Employ a permanent medical team at their nominated hospitals that is authorised to carry out remote diagnostic examinations for MMG Platform Users.
-
Only nominate and carry out treatments to users of our platform at hospitals physically located within the European Union that are equipped with (or within easy access of) a full Emergency Suite.
-
Agree to MMG’s Terms & Conditions for AHPs that set out and require adherence to the highest ethical standards and provision of quality healthcare.
-
Agree to inform MMG if any of the above assurances should change in any way whatsoever.
