Doc. Dr. Sigitas Ryliškis

Dr Sigitas Ryliškis is a Consultant Orthopaedic Trauma Surgeon with almost 30 years of clinical experience and is one of Lithuania's leading specialists in shoulder surgery. He has developed a highly specialised practice dedicated exclusively to the diagnosis and treatment of shoulder disorders, combining advanced arthroscopic techniques with complex shoulder reconstruction and replacement surgery. He graduated in Medicine from Vilnius University in 1997 before completing specialist training in Orthopaedic Traumatology. He subsequently earned the academic title of Doctor of Medical Sciences (MD/PhD) and holds the academic rank of Associate Professor (Docent), reflecting his longstanding contribution to both clinical practice and medical education. Throughout his career he has undertaken advanced specialist training in the United States, Austria, Italy, Sweden and France, ensuring his practice remains aligned with the latest international developments in shoulder surgery. Dr Ryliškis specialises exclusively in shoulder pathology and performs a broad range of advanced procedures, including total shoulder replacement, reverse shoulder arthroplasty, rotator cuff reconstruction, arthroscopic stabilisation (Bankart repair), Latarjet bone block procedures, arthroscopic arthrolysis, calcific tendon surgery and the treatment of complex traumatic shoulder injuries. In addition to his work at Meliva Kardiolita Hospital, he serves as an Orthopaedic Trauma Surgeon at the Republican Vilnius University Hospital, one of Lithuania's principal tertiary trauma centres. Alongside his clinical practice, Dr Ryliškis has made significant academic contributions through peer-reviewed research in shoulder surgery and arthroplasty, publishing studies on rotator cuff disease, shoulder function and reverse shoulder replacement outcomes. He is a member of the Lithuanian Society of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, the Lithuanian Association of Arthroscopic Surgeons and the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine (ISAKOS), reflecting his active engagement with the international orthopaedic community.
