Dr Robertinas Juosponis

Dr Robertinas Juosponis, MD, PhD, is an experienced orthopaedic and trauma surgeon specialising in shoulder, hip and knee surgery, with particular expertise in joint replacement, arthroscopic procedures and complex musculoskeletal reconstruction. With almost 30 years of clinical experience, he has performed more than 3,000 joint replacement operations and continues to undertake around 300 procedures each year, treating both degenerative joint disease and traumatic orthopaedic injuries. Dr Juosponis graduated in medicine from Kaunas Medical University in 1997 before completing his initial postgraduate residency at Utena Hospital between 1998 and 1999. He then undertook specialist residency training in Orthopaedics and Traumatology at Kaunas Medical University from 1999 to 2003, qualifying as an orthopaedic surgeon and traumatologist in July 2003. Between 2003 and 2008 he completed doctoral research at the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences, receiving his PhD in Medical Sciences in October 2009. His specialist practice encompasses shoulder replacement surgery, shoulder arthroscopy, rotator cuff repair, shoulder instability, tendon reconstruction and the surgical management of sports injuries. He also performs primary hip and knee replacement surgery, fracture fixation and bone osteosynthesis procedures, combining modern reconstructive techniques with minimally invasive approaches where clinically appropriate. Alongside his clinical work, Dr Juosponis has contributed to orthopaedic research through his doctoral studies and continuing academic involvement.
