Dr Antonio Jesús González Sánchez is one of Andalusia's leading specialists in minimally invasive abdominal surgery. With more than 20 years of consultant experience, he has established a distinguished practice in general, digestive and bariatric surgery, combining advanced laparoscopic techniques with a strong commitment to enhanced patient recovery. His expertise spans abdominal wall reconstruction, colorectal surgery, hepatobiliary procedures and obesity surgery, with particular emphasis on minimally invasive approaches that reduce postoperative pain, shorten hospital stays and accelerate return to normal activity.
Dr González Sánchez graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Málaga in 1998 before completing his specialist residency in General and Digestive Surgery at Hospital Regional Universitario Carlos Haya between 1999 and 2004. In 2007, he completed an advanced international fellowship in Hepatobiliary Surgery at the world-renowned Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, one of the world's leading centres for cancer surgery. He has further strengthened his expertise through postgraduate qualifications, including a Master's Degree in Minimally Invasive Surgery and a Master's Degree in Obesity Surgery, reflecting his continuing commitment to surgical innovation and clinical excellence.
Dr González Sánchez currently serves as Coordinator of the General and Digestive Surgery Department at Hospital Internacional HM Santa Elena in Torremolinos and also consults and operates at Hospital de Día HM El Pilar in Málaga. His clinical practice encompasses laparoscopic repair of inguinal, umbilical, epigastric and hiatal hernias, laparoscopic gallbladder surgery, colorectal surgery, proctology, obesity surgery and emergency general surgery. He also performs advanced treatment for haemorrhoids, anal fissures and fistulas using both conventional and laser-assisted techniques, offering patients access to modern, evidence-based surgical care.
