Dr Jordi Selga Marsà is a trauma surgeon with more than 15 years of specialist clinical experience. He has developed an outstanding reputation in hip and knee reconstruction, trauma surgery and the treatment of complex musculoskeletal injuries. Alongside his role at HM Hospitales, he is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and Coordinator of the Orthopaedic Trauma Emergency Service at Vall d'Hebron University Hospital, one of Spain's largest university teaching hospitals and major trauma centres. Dr Selga graduated in Medicine from the University of Barcelona before completing his specialist (MIR) training in Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology at Vall d'Hebron University Hospital. Since joining the consultant staff, he has combined a busy elective reconstructive practice with the management of complex trauma cases within one of Europe's highest-volume orthopaedic services. He is also a researcher within the Reconstructive Surgery of the Locomotor System Group at the Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) and serves as a Clinical Associate in Orthopaedic Surgery at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, contributing to undergraduate and postgraduate medical education. His clinical practice encompasses total hip replacement, total knee replacement, revision arthroplasty, fracture fixation, lower limb reconstruction and the treatment of sports injuries and degenerative joint disease. He has particular expertise in complex peri-articular fractures and the management of acute orthopaedic trauma, employing minimally invasive techniques wherever appropriate to improve recovery and optimise long-term function. His work within Vall d'Hebron provides continuous exposure to high-complexity orthopaedic surgery while ensuring his practice remains aligned with the latest international standards. Alongside his clinical responsibilities, Dr Selga participates in orthopaedic research through VHIR and remains actively involved in specialist teaching and continuing professional development. His combination of academic engagement, high-volume trauma experience and consultant-led reconstructive practice reflects a commitment to evidence-based orthopaedic care and continuous innovation.
