Dra. Mireia Illueca Moreno

Dr Mireia Illueca Moreno specialises in minimally invasive spinal surgery, brain microsurgery, neuro-oncology and complex cranial and spinal procedures. She also serves as Head of Neurosurgery within Quirónsalud Barcelona and directs the medical and surgical department at Monarka Clinic, where her practice incorporates pain medicine, regenerative approaches and personalised treatment planning. Dr Illueca graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Valencia in 2009, completing part of her undergraduate training at the University of Pisa in Italy. Between 2010 and 2015, she completed specialist residency training in Neurosurgery at Hospital Universitario Son Espases in Palma de Mallorca, subsequently joining the neurosurgical team led by Dr Javier Olabe. Her postgraduate development has included microsurgical laboratory training at Hospital Clínico Universitario de Valencia, the fourth Hands-on Course in Neurosurgical Approaches under Dr Michael Lawton and Dr Evandro de Oliveira, and the Cleveland Clinic’s Spine Review hands-on programme. Her clinical scope includes cervical and lumbar discectomy, laminectomy, spinal decompression and fusion, endoscopic disc surgery, spinal stenosis, intramedullary and cauda equina tumours, paediatric neurosurgery, skull-base surgery and minimally invasive cerebral oncology. In 2023, she participated in HM Nou Delfos’s introduction of endoscopic lumbar discectomy. Dr Illueca has presented clinical research at Spanish neurosurgical congresses, including work on Rosai-Dorfman disease and papillary glioneuronal tumours.
