Dr Pedro J. Delgado Serrano is one of Europe's foremost trauma surgeons, internationally recognised for his expertise in hand, wrist and elbow surgery. He is Head of Upper Limb Surgery at HM Madrid Río and Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at CEU San Pablo University, Madrid. With more than 25 years of specialist clinical experience, he has established an exceptional reputation in wrist arthroscopy, minimally invasive upper limb surgery and complex reconstructive procedures, combining high-volume clinical practice with international academic leadership, research and professional education. Dr Delgado graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the Complutense University of Madrid before completing his specialist (MIR) training in Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology at Hospital Universitario de La Princesa in Madrid. He subsequently undertook advanced fellowship training in Hand and Upper Limb Surgery at leading specialist centres across Europe and North America, developing expertise in wrist arthroscopy, reconstructive hand surgery and complex upper limb trauma. He later joined FREMAP Hospital in Majadahonda, where he spent ten years as Consultant Surgeon in the Upper Limb Unit while simultaneously serving as Resident Tutor, Chairman of the Teaching Committee, Chairman of the National Nursing Committee, Chairman of the National Physiotherapy Committee and National Deputy Medical Director. His clinical practice focuses on wrist arthroscopy, distal radius fractures, scaphoid non-union, carpal instability, ligament reconstruction, peripheral nerve disorders, elbow surgery and complex hand trauma. He is internationally recognised as one of the pioneers of advanced arthroscopic wrist surgery and directs the internationally respected Madrid Wrist Course, now in its ninth edition, which attracts specialist surgeons from around the world for advanced cadaveric training in wrist arthroscopy and reconstructive techniques. Dr Delgado has authored more than 80 peer-reviewed scientific publications, contributed over 500 invited lectures and presentations worldwide and has accumulated more than 380 academic citations. His research spans wrist arthroscopy, scaphoid reconstruction, peripheral nerve surgery, elbow trauma and minimally invasive upper limb reconstruction. He serves as President of the Spanish Society for Hand Surgery (SECMA) for the 2023–2025 term, President of the SECMA Foundation, former Secretary General of the Ibero-Latin American Hand Surgery Group (ILA), International Editor of the Revista Iberoamericana de Cirugía de la Mano (RICMA), reviewer for the Journal of Hand Surgery and Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, and a member of the International Wrist Investigators Workshop, an invitation-only group of the world's leading wrist surgeons.
